In just one day, Ashland University junior Amber Otermat went from not in the NCAA Division II indoor nationals conversation to knocking on the door of going to Kansas.
On Saturday (Feb. 9) at the Kent State Doug Raymond Invitational, Otermat tied her career indoor best mark in the women's pole vault, winning the event with a new nationals provisional mark for nationals (March 8-9 at Pittsburg State, Kan.) of 3.79 meters/12-feet-5¼.
Otermat's mark most likely moves her into the top 20 in D-II in the women's pole vault going into the last week of the regular season.
Ashland's men, ranked No. 2 in the country, and women, ranked No. 9 in the nation, will compete on Friday (Feb. 15) at Ohio State and Saturday (Feb. 16) at Kent State.
