A pair of Ashland University sophomores continue to pile up Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference track and field honors.

Brent Fairbanks and Trevor Bassitt are the Week 7 GLIAC Men's Field and Running Athletes of the Week, respectively, following dominant efforts on Friday (Feb. 8) at the Grand Valley State Big Meet. Fairbanks has earned three GLIAC weekly awards this season and in his AU career, and Bassitt has two this season and three as an Eagle.

Fairbanks won the men's weight throw invite section of the Big Meet with a top heave of 22.27 meters/73-feet-0¾ - a mark which moves him into a tie for fifth place on the all-time NCAA Division II men's indoor weight thrower list. Fairbanks leads the country in the event this season.

Bassitt won both the men's 200-meter dash and men's 60 hurdles at GVSU, crossing the finish line in 21.20 seconds and 7.94 seconds, respectively. Bassitt is ranked second in the nation in both events.

Ashland University's men, ranked No. 2 in the country, and women, ranked No. 9, will finish the indoor regular season on Friday (Feb. 15) at Ohio State and Saturday (Feb. 16) at Kent State.
