Quality never goes out of style.

This certainly is a statement of fact where Ashland University head track and field coach Jud Logan is concerned. On Wednesday (March 13) afternoon, Logan was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II men's indoor national coach of the year – 10 years after first earning the honor.

In 2009, Logan led the Eagle men to a fourth-place finish at D-II indoor nationals. In 2019, his charges came home with the first-place trophy – the Ashland track and field program's initial D-II team national title.

On the way to that national championship, the Eagle men earned six All-American honors - senior Myles Pringle in the 400-meter dash (first) and high jump (fourth), the 4x400 relay team of Pringle, sophomore Channing Phillips, junior Paul Murray and freshman Brayden Chaney (fifth), and the weight throw trio of sophomore Brent Fairbanks (second) and juniors Nick Zak (third) and Alex Hill (fourth).

Earlier in the 2018-19 campaign, the Ashland men finished second at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

This is Logan's third USTFCCCA national award. In 2008, he garnered the organization's national indoor women's coach of the year honor.

Since becoming the Ashland track and field head coach in 2005-06, Logan's teams have earned 14 straight top-10 men's indoor finishes, 11 top-10 men's outdoor finishes, eight top-10 women's indoor placements, and five top-10 women's outdoor showings nationally.
