It's a pretty good ratio for Ashland University's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams – one week of competition, four Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards.
As released by the GLIAC on Tuesday (March 26) afternoon, freshman Keshun Jones (men's track), junior Alex Hill (men's field), senior Tiffany Pryce (women's track) and redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker (women's field) swept the conference's first outdoor weekly laurels for their efforts over the weekend at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
Jones finished the men's 100-meter dash preliminaries at 10.65 seconds, and the men's 200 dash prelims in 21.50 seconds. Those times are 15th and 21st, respectively, in NCAA Division II in the early going.
Hill won the men's discus throw with a top heave of 52.36 meters/171-feet-9, and took second in the men's hammer throw at 64.14 meters/210-feet-5. Nationally, Hill ranks No. 2 in the hammer and No. 7 in the discus.
Pryce took fifth place in the women's 800 run at 2:14.43, a personal record good for No. 12 in D-II.
Baker had the busiest weekend for the Eagles, winning the women's shot put with a top distance of 14.95 meters/49-feet-0¾, taking third in the women's discus at 47.07 meters/154-feet-5, and placing fifth in the women's hammer at 54.08 meters/177-feet-5.
This is Hill's sixth GLIAC weekly award all-time, Baker's second, and Jones' and Pryce's first each.
Ashland's men and women will go on Friday and Saturday (March 29-30) at the Wooster Invitational.
