AU Women 16th, Men 21st In Latest USTFCCCA Rankings

Heading into their third meet of the 2019 outdoor season, Ashland University's track and field teams are No. 16 (women) and No. 21 (men) in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings, released on Tuesday (April 2) afternoon.

The Eagle women have compiled 75.25 computer points, led by senior hammer throwers Mackenzie Leigh (22.46) and Natalie Helenthal (14.39), and junior high jumper Ellie Jindra (13.46). In all, nine AU women have earned points so far this spring, with redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker doing so in three events – shot put (9.68), hammer throw (9.24) and discus (2.36).

Junior hammer throwers Alex Hill (21.86) and Nick Zak (14.10) have posted the majority of the Ashland men's total of 55.76 computer points. Ten different Eagle men have earned computer points through two outdoor meets.

Ashland's women and men will compete on Friday and Saturday (April 5-6) at the Northeast Ohio Quad. Friday's running and jumping events will be at Youngstown State University, and Saturday's throwing events will be at the University of Akron.
