Ashland Men, Women Move Up One Spot In D-II Rankings

Coming off strong showings at the 10th Ashland Alumni Open, Ashland University's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams each moved up one spot in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II national rating index, released on Tuesday (April 23) afternoon.

The Eagle men are slotted No. 8 in the country for their second-highest ranking during the 2019 outdoor season, while the AU women are No. 9 in the nation, tied for their best ranking so far this spring.

Ashland's men have collected 109.78 computer points through the Alumni Open, with the top point earners being senior Myles Pringle in the 400-meter dash (25.18), sophomore Trevor Bassitt in the 400 hurdles (22.90) and 110 hurdles (20.78), and junior Alex Hill in the hammer throw (16.78).

The Eagle women have compiled 93.30 computer points, and leading the way are redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker in the shot put (25.00), and seniors Mackenzie Leigh (22.41) and Natalie Helenthal (16.99) in the hammer throw.

Ashland's men and women will compete at the Jesse Owens Relays on Friday and Saturday (April 26-27) at The Ohio State University.
