AU Men Eighth, Women 10th Going Into Outdoor GLIACs

Ashland University's outdoor track and field teams will continue to be NCAA Division II top-10 teams heading into the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

In the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II national rating index, released on Tuesday (April 30) afternoon, the Eagle men remain at No. 8 and the Eagle women are at No. 10 going into outdoor GLIACs, Wednesday-Friday (May 1-3) at Grand Valley State.

Ashland's men have compiled 124.49 computer points, paced by senior Myles Pringle in the 400-meter dash (24.90), sophomore Trevor Bassitt in the 400 hurdles (22.89) and 110 hurdles (20.70), and junior Alex Hill in the hammer throw (16.70). Angelo State is ranked No. 1 on the men's side with 183.64 computer points.

The Eagle women have 93.04 computer points this week, and the pacesetters include redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker in the shot put (24.37) and seniors Mackenzie Leigh (22.28) and Natalie Helenthal (16.86) in the hammer throw. Grand Valley State's women are No. 1 in the nation with 259.81 computer points.

The 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships will be May 23-25 in Kingsville, Texas.
