AU Men Sixth, Women 12th In D-II Following GLIACs

After their respective second-place finishes at the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Ashland University's outdoor track and field teams are No. 6 (men) and No. 12 (women) in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II national rating index, released on Tuesday (May 7) afternoon.

The Eagle men have compiled 138.17 team points, paced by senior Myles Pringle in the 400-meter dash (24.31), sophomore Trevor Bassitt in the 400 hurdles (22.83) and 110 hurdles (20.40), the 4x400 relay team of Pringle, Bassitt, sophomore Channing Phillips and freshman Tim Rumas (18.95), and junior Alex Hill in the hammer throw (16.35). Angelo State (211.58 points) is the top-ranked men's squad in D-II.

Ashland's women have 85.11 points, with redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker in the shot put (24.09) and senior Mackenzie Leigh in the hammer throw (22.13) leading the way. Grand Valley State is No. 1 on the women's side with 245.86 points.

Select Ashland athletes will compete at last-chance meets at Baldwin Wallace on Friday (May 10) and Mount Olive, N.C., on Saturday (May 11), prior to the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, May 23-25 in Kingsville, Texas. The selection announcement for outdoor nationals will be on May 14 at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com.
