Eagles Enter D-II Nationals Ranked Sixth, 12th In D-II

The pre-nationals rankings are out, and Ashland University's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams continue at No. 6 and 12, respectively, in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II national rating index.

Monday's (May 20) pre-nationals rankings take into account only those student-athletes who qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, Thursday-Saturday (May 23-25) in Kingsville, Texas.

Ashland's men have 131.71 computer points, trailing only No. 1 Angelo State (210.27), No. 2 Texas A&M-Kingsville (179.18), No. 3 Texas A&M Commerce (178.25), No. 4 Lincoln, Mo. (155.25) and No. 5 West Texas A&M (143.75). The bulk of the Eagles' points come from senior Myles Pringle in the 400-meter dash (25.17), sophomore Trevor Bassitt in the 400 hurdles (20.51) and 110 hurdles (18.78), the 4x400 relay of Pringle, Bassitt, sophomore Channing Phillips and freshman Tim Rumas (18.95); and junior Alex Hill in the hammer throw (16.36).

The Eagle women have 82.06 computer points, and Grand Valley State (233.02) is the pre-nationals favorite. AU women with the highest individual point totals are redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker in the shot put (24.22), and seniors Mackenzie Leigh (22.25) and Natalie Helenthal (14.50) in the hammer throw.
