The 2019-20 indoor track and field season is approaching, and with that comes a pair of top-10 national rankings for Ashland University's men's and women's squads.

As announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday (Dec. 4) afternoon, the Eagle men are No. 4, and the AU women are No. 6, in the NCAA Division II preseason national rating index. These rankings come just days prior to the start of a new season, as Ashland's runners will go to Youngstown State on Friday (Dec. 6), throwers to Findlay on Saturday (Dec. 7), and multis to Saginaw Valley State on Friday and Saturday.

Ashland's men are the defending NCAA Division II team national champions, both indoors and outdoors. The Eagle men have 123.84 computer points in the preseason, trailing only Tiffin (158.07), Colorado School of Mines (132.11) and Central Missouri (131).

That point total is paced by top returnees senior Alex Hill (24.76), junior Brent Fairbanks (22.40) and senior Nick Zak (18.42) in the weight throw, and junior Trevor Bassitt in the 60-meter hurdles (18.47) and 200 dash (17.67).

On the women's side, their 73.20 computer points are led by senior Ellie Jindra in the high jump (23.00).
