It wasn't good enough for Ashland University junior Trevor Bassitt to have just one automatic qualifying mark for 2020 NCAA Division II indoor track and field nationals, March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala.

On Saturday (Dec. 14) at the Tiffin Alumni Open, Bassitt won the men's 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 7.88 seconds. That time will get him to Alabama, as did the 46.88 seconds in the men's 400 dash last weekend at the Youngstown State Icebreaker.

Also on Saturday, sophomore Ethan Tabor finished second in the men's long jump at 6.99 meters.

Ashland's men, ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division II, and women, ranked No. 6, will return for second semester and go back to Findlay for the Findlay Open on Jan. 11.
