Christmas Break has officially started, and senior forward Andi Daugherty and the Ashland University women's basketball team has another present under the tree.

On Wednesday (Dec. 20), Daugherty earned the 11th Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week award of her career. The Week 6 honor marks the fourth consecutive week Ashland has had a player named GLIAC South Player of the Week. Sophomore guard Jodi Johnson earned the honor in Weeks 3 and 5, while senior forward Laina Snyder did the same in Week 4.

Daugherty, who now has been the GLIAC South Player of the Week at least one time in all four of her seasons as an Eagle, had her best statistical week of the season since coming off an early-season injury as the No. 1-ranked Eagles headed for the break. In wins at Tiffin on Saturday (Dec. 16) and at home vs. Indianapolis on Monday (Dec. 18), Daugherty averaged 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, while hitting 78.6 percent from the field, all three of her 3-point attempts and all 11 of her free throws.

Against the Dragons, Daugherty became the first Eagle women's basketball player since at least the start the 2010-11 season to make every shot from the field (3-for-3, 2-for-2 from 3-point range) and the line (6-for-6), and have at least five rebounds (six) and five assists (five), all in the same game.

Through Dec. 18, Daugherty is No. 2 in NCAA Division II at 97.1 percent from the free-throw line. She leads the GLIAC in that category, is third in the conference at 56.9 percent from the field and is fifth in the league at 3.8 assists per game.
