If Ashland University's women's basketball team starts "slow," it doesn't last very long.

Trailing 9-6 at the game's first media timeout, the No. 1-ranked Eagles quickly turned that around en route to a 101-43 win over Lake Superior State on Thursday (Feb. 8) night at Kates Gymnasium. Ashland is 23-0 overall and 15-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference thanks to its 60th straight win, an NCAA Division II basketball record, regardless of gender.

"With our style, you have to stick with it," said Ashland head coach Robyn Fralick, now 91-2 (.978) as a head coach. "We hope that, over time, it pays off, because our style is pretty unique."

Thursday's victory also marked the seventh straight game in which Ashland has scored at least 100 points, a new NCAA women's hoops record, regardless of division.

The Lakers are 2-18, 1-14.

TEN TAKEAWAYS

1. Senior forwards Laina Snyder and Andi Daugherty each scored a team-high 19 points in the victory. Snyder's point total gives her 2,015 in her career, as she became the second player in program history to go past 2,000. Snyder also became the 32nd player in NCAA Division II women's basketball history to collect at least 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

"I've played a lot of games, and that definitely helps," Snyder said. "Doing that and being on a great team...we're averaging over 100 points, so I'm going to score points. To be on a team like that is the whole reason I can get those points."

2. Junior guard Maddie Dackin followed with 16 points, including a 7-for-7 game from the free-throw line. Sophomore forward/guard Sara Loomis finished with 11 points.

3. Sophomore guard Sarah Hart ended with a career-high 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Renee Stimpert added nine assists. Stimpert has 60 assists in the last six games.

4. In addition to scoring in triple figures for the seventh straight game, Ashland has hit the 100-point mark for the 12th time in the last 15 outings. The Eagles have 14 "chalupa games" in 2017-18, and the D-II women's basketball record in a season is 18, set by Glenville State in 2013-14.

5. Ashland went the first four minutes without a field goal, and at the first media timeout, trailed 9-6. The Eagles then scored the game's next seven points to force a Laker stoppage.

6. The end of the first quarter saw Ashland lead 25-11, as the Eagles scored 19 points in the last 4:55 of the period. While AU struggled from the field (8-of-18), a 7-for-8 showing at the free-throw line helped the cause.

7. Snyder scored her 2,000th career point with a triple (her 18th as an Eagle) early in the second quarter. That helped the Eagles to a 45-17 lead at the second-quarter media timeout, and a 58-19 advantage at the half. Ashland hit 13 of 20 shots in the second period, and in the first half, had 17 assists on 21 made field goals.

8. Snyder, Daugherty and fellow senior forward Julie Worley each played in career game No. 124 on Thursday, putting them in third place on Ashland's all-time list. Only Kelsey Peare (130) and Lindsay Tenyak (129) have played in more games.

9. Thursday's victory was Ashland's 50th in a row at home in the regular season, and 31st in a row at "The Kates" overall. The Eagles are 110 games over .500 (126-16, .887) at home since the turn of the decade.

10. For Lake Superior State, Tamara Novic scored 12 points, and Claire Radtke added 10.
