Ashland University's women's basketball team is setting high standards off the floor, as well.
The No. 1-ranked Eagles have three players – senior forwards Andi Daugherty and Laina Snyder, and sophomore guard Jodi Johnson – on the 2017-18 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, released on Thursday (Feb. 22) afternoon, in NCAA Division II, District 4.
Ashland is the only Division II women's basketball program with three first-team Academic All-District selections.
Daugherty becomes the Eagles' first three-time Academic All-District choice since Jackie Mason (2001-02, 2003-04 and 2004-05). She sports a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average in Finance, and so far this season, is averaging 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 91.5 percent from the free-throw line.
Snyder is a two-time Academic All-District honoree. She is a Business Management major with a 3.91 cumulative GPA, and is averaging 19.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game, while hitting 54.2 percent from the field and 77.3 percent from the foul line.
Johnson is an Academic All-District team member for the first time. She has a 3.87 cumulative GPA in Supply Chain Management, and in 2017-18, is averaging 19.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 4.0 steals per contest, while shooting 62.5 percent from the floor, 60.0 percent from 3-point range and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line.
Daugherty, Snyder and Johnson will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced on March 13. Daugherty is a two-time Academic All-America (2015-16 and 2016-17), and could become the program's first player to earn the award three times, and Snyder earned the honor last season.
