Ashland University's women's basketball team will have an NCAA Division II national finalist ring ceremony on Dec. 1 prior to the 1 p.m. home game vs. Ferris State at Kates Gymnasium.

The rings, which were purchased by the AU Fastbreak Club, will be presented to the members of the 2017-18 team by Ashland President Dr. Carlos Campo and Director of Athletics Al King.

"So far, we have everyone, unless plans change, be able to come back, which will be really nice to have everyone," said Ashland head coach Kari Pickens. "It will just be a really honoring way to recognize a team that did some things that not very many schools in the United States have been able to do."

In 2017-18, Ashland's women were 36-1 overall and 20-0 in the GLIAC. The Eagles were the NCAA Division II runner-up, and winners of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season, GLIAC Tournament and Midwest Regional tournament championships. AU also set NCAA women's basketball records, regardless of division, for most points in a season (3,644), most games with at least 100 points in a campaign (19), and most consecutive games with at least 100 points (eight).

Since the start of 2011-12, Ashland has two national titles, two national finalist finishes, an overall record of 220-24 (.902), and is the first program in GLIAC women's basketball history to win both five regular-season and five tournament titles in a seven-year period.

This season, the Eagles are ranked No. 2 in D-II, and are 3-0 in the early going of 2018-19. Ashland will play host to the 2018 Ashland University Thanksgiving Tournament, Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 24-25) at Kates Gymnasium, with its games being Saturday at 3 p.m. vs. Missouri S&T and Sunday at 3 p.m. vs. Slippery Rock.
