Eagle Women Remain No. 2 In WBCA Coaches’ Poll

Ashland University's women's basketball team has held at No. 2 in the first regular-season Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, released on Tuesday (Nov. 20) afternoon.

The Eagles (3-0) received three of 24 first-place votes and 577 total voting points. The entire top 10 in the WBCA poll remains unchanged from the preseason.

All-time in the official coaches' poll - preseason, regular season and postseason combined - the Eagles have been in the top 25 on 88 occasions, the top 10 72 times and the top five 65 times. Ashland has been in the top 25 in 53 consecutive polls, the top 10 in 47 straight polls, and the top five in 36 consecutive polls - the latter mark trailing only North Dakota State (38) and Seattle Pacific (37) for the top streak in the history of the poll.

The Eagles are joined in the WBCA poll by another Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival, Grand Valley State (3-1), at No. 18.

Ashland will play host to the 2018 Ashland University Thanksgiving Tournament, Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 24-25) at Kates Gymnasium, with its games being Saturday at 3 p.m. vs. Missouri S&T and Sunday at 3 p.m. vs. Slippery Rock.
