Just as Ashland University's women's basketball team was No. 1 in the country heading into Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, the Eagles will be in that spot going into GLIAC road contests for the first time in 2018-19.

Ashland (7-0 overall, 2-0 GLIAC) is atop the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, the latest of which was released on Tuesday (Dec. 4). The Eagles unanimously stay atop the poll, receiving all 24 first-place votes.

For a poll-record 42nd time in the regular season, Ashland is the No. 1 team in Division II. The Eagles also have the D-II poll's longest active regular-season streak of being in the top 10 at 50, and now being in the top five for 35 straight regular-season polls, they trail only North Dakota State (38) and Seattle Pacific (37) on that list.

All-time in the D-II coaches' poll – preseason, regular season and postseason combined – Ashland has been in the top 25 on 90 occasions, in the top 10 74 times, in the top five 67 times, and ranked No. 1 44 times. The Eagles have been in the rankings 55 times in a row, in the top 10 49 times in a row, and in the top five 38 times in a row.

Joining Ashland in this week's Top 25 poll is fellow GLIAC team Grand Valley State at No. 15.

The Eagles will play their first GLIAC road game of the season at the Lakers (6-1, 2-0) on Thursday (Dec. 6) at 6 p.m.

2018-19 WBCA POLL RANKINGS: No. 2 (preseason and Nov. 20), No. 1 (Nov. 27 and Dec. 4).
