AU Women Enter 2019 At No. 8 In WBCA Coaches' Poll

For the third consecutive poll, Ashland University's women's basketball team is ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II.

The latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll was released on Wednesday (Jan. 2) afternoon, and the Eagles stay put at No. 8. Ashland is 11-1 overall and 3-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference heading into Thursday's (Jan. 3) game at 5:30 p.m. at Kates Gymnasium vs. Michigan Tech (7-5, 3-1).

Ashland has been ranked in the official D-II coaches' poll 93 times, and all-time as a ranked team, the Eagles are 181-13 (.933), including 99-5 (.952) at home and 91-3 (.968) as the No. 1 team in the country.

AU has been slotted in the top 10 in the WBCA poll 53 consecutive times, the longest active streak in D-II. All-time in the coaches' poll – preseason, regular season and postseason – the Eagles have been in the top 10 on 77 occasions.

The GLIAC boasts two teams in the latest WBCA rankings – Ashland and No. 10 Grand Valley State.

2018-19 WBCA POLL RANKINGS: No. 2 (preseason and Nov. 20), No. 1 (Nov. 27 and Dec. 4), No. 8 (Dec. 11, Dec. 18 and Jan. 2).
