AU Women Earn Way Back Into WBCA Top Five

Another move up the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll has allowed Ashland University's women's basketball team to earn its way back in the top five.

As released on Tuesday (Jan. 22) afternoon, the latest WBCA poll has the Eagles slotted at No. 5. AU has moved up the poll for a third consecutive week.

Ashland is 17-1 overall and 9-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and sports a current 10-game winning streak going into a Saturday (Jan. 26) 1 p.m. GLIAC game at Wayne State (10-8, 5-5). The Eagles' 10-game winning streak is the program's seventh win streak of at least 10 games this decade.

Ashland's streak of consecutive polls ranked in the top 10 now stands at 56, the longest active mark in NCAA Division II. Overall, Ashland has been ranked in the poll 96 times, and its all-time record as a ranked team is 187-13 (.935).

Ashland is one of two GLIAC teams in the latest WBCA poll, along with No. 15 Grand Valley State.
