Eagle Women Up To No. 3 In WBCA Coaches’ Poll

Ashland University's women's basketball team is getting closer to the top of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

In the latest edition of the poll, released on Tuesday (Jan. 29) afternoon, the Eagles moved up two spots to No. 3. Ashland, 18-1 overall and 10-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, earned one first-place vote.

AU will take winning streaks of 11 games overall and 49 games at Kates Gymnasium into two home games this week – Thursday (Jan. 31) at 5:30 p.m. vs. Davenport (5-13, 3-8), and Saturday (Feb. 2) at 1 p.m. vs. No. T-15 Grand Valley State (17-2, 10-1) on Faith Day.

Ashland is coming off an 84-65 victory on Saturday (Jan. 26) at Wayne State.

The Eagles have been in the top 10 of the WBCA poll 57 consecutive times, the longest active streak in Division II. Overall, Ashland has been ranked in the poll 97 times, and its all-time record as a ranked team is 188-13 (.935).

2018-19 WBCA POLL RANKINGS: No. 2 (preseason and Nov. 20), No. 1 (Nov. 27 and Dec. 4), No. 8 (Dec. 11, Dec. 18 and Jan. 2), No. 7 (Jan. 8), No. 6 (Jan. 15), No. 5 (Jan. 22), No. 3 (Jan. 29).
