Eagle Women Back In WBCA Coaches’ Poll Top 10

It is back to familiar territory in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll for Ashland University's women's basketball team.

As released by the WBCA on Tuesday (Feb. 19) afternoon, the Eagle women (23-2 overall, 15-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) are ranked No. 10 in the nation. It is the first time Ashland has been in the top 10 since Jan. 29, and since the official D-II coaches' poll began, it is the 82nd time the program has been there – preseason, regular season and postseason.

This is the 100th time that the Eagles have been in the top 25 of the official coaches' poll all-time. Ashland's record playing as a nationally-ranked team is 193-14 (.932).

Ashland is one of two GLIAC teams in this week's poll, along with No. 11 Grand Valley State.

The Eagles will travel on Thursday (Feb. 21) at 6 p.m. to Northwood (11-4, 8-9), then go to Saginaw Valley State (5-19, 5-12) on Saturday (Feb. 23) at 1 p.m. Ashland already has clinched a home GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal game, set for March 5 at 5:30 p.m., for the eighth consecutive season.
