Ashland Women Enter GLIAC Tourney At No. 6 In Division II

Prior to Tuesday (March 5) night's opener in the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, Ashland University's women's basketball team moved up a spot to No. 6 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

The Eagle women (26-2) are at their highest ranking in the WBCA poll since Jan. 29 (No. 3). They will play a home GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. vs. Parkside (12-14).

Ashland has been ranked in the official D-II women's basketball coaches poll 102 times, and has been in the top 10 on 84 occasions. All-time as a nationally-ranked team, the Eagles have a record of 196-14 (.933), and at Kates Gymnasium, the mark is 107-6 (.947).

Ashland is one of two GLIAC teams in this week's poll, along with No. 7 Grand Valley State.

The Eagles have been the No. 4 team in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region rankings in each of the first two releases. The third set will be released on Wednesday (March 6), and the NCAA Division II women's basketball tournament selection show will be on Sunday (March 10) at 10 p.m. on NCAA.com.
