Ashland Women Enter D-II Tournament At No. 4 Nationally

Ashland University's women's basketball team is the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NCAA Division II Midwest Regional in Springfield, Mo.

Entering the postseason, the Eagles also are the No. 4-ranked team in the country, as the next-to-last Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll of the 2018-19 season was released on Monday (March 11) afternoon.

Ashland is 29-2 overall, and is coming off its fourth consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship. The Eagles will open regional play on Friday (March 15) vs. Northern Michigan (22-9) at 9:30 p.m. East/8:30 p.m. Central.

Ashland has been ranked in the official D-II women's basketball coaches poll 103 times, and has been in the top 10 on 85 occasions. All-time as a nationally-ranked team, the Eagles have a record of 199-14 (.934).

AU is one of two GLIAC teams in this week's poll, along with No. T-10 Grand Valley State. Three of the top 10 teams in the poll reside in the Midwest Region – No. 1 Drury, Ashland and GVSU.
