The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) welcomed Ashland University's women's basketball team back to the top five of its NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll on Tuesday (Dec. 10) after the Eagles have authored a 7-0 beginning to the 2019-20 season. Ashland is slotted at No. 4 in the latest WBCA poll, moving up two spots from where it was each of the previous two weeks.
Ashland, also off to a 2-0 start in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, will play host to Wayne State (6-2, 1-1) on Saturday (Dec. 14) at 5:30 p.m. at Kates Gymnasium.
Tuesday's WBCA poll is the 74th straight in which the Eagles have appeared in the Top 25. This is the first time Ashland has been in the top five since a No. 4 ranking on March 11.
Ashland's all-time record as a Top 25 team is 206-15 (.932).
For the third week in a row, the Eagles are joined in the Top 25 by another GLIAC side, No. 3 Grand Valley State. Three of the top four teams in the country come from the Midwest Region – No. 1 Drury, No. 3 GVSU and No. 4 AU.
2019-20 WBCA RANKINGS: No. 8 (preseason), No. 7 (Nov. 19), No. 6 (Nov. 26 and Dec. 3), No. 4 (Dec. 10).
