Loomis Garners Second GLIAC South Award Of Season

For the second time this season and the fourth time in her Eagle career, Ashland University senior forward Sara Loomis is the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week.

As announced by the GLIAC on Monday (Dec. 16) afternoon, Loomis earned the weekly honor following a 79-54 win for the No. 4-ranked Eagles over Wayne State at Kates Gymnasium on Saturday (Dec. 14) night in which she posted 21 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks, and made 8-of-12 attempts from the floor and all four free-throw attempts.

Entering the final week of play in the calendar year of 2019, Loomis is third in the GLIAC at 18.4 points per game, first at 10.8 rebounds per game and with a 3-point percentage of 52.4, and fourth at 1.9 blocks per game.

Loomis (Week 1 and 6) and senior guard Jodi Johnson (Week 2) have earned three of the six GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honors to date in 2019-20.

Ashland (8-0) will travel to Le Moyne (6-4) for a non-conference tilt on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at 1 p.m.
