Eagles Land Eighth After Day One Of D-II Nationals

Ashland University's women's golf team is eighth in the 12-team field after Day 1 of the 2015 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships on Wednesday (May 13).

The Eagles shot a team score of 324 in the first round of play at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. Indianapolis (305), Rollins (306) and Central Oklahoma (312) each pulled away from the pack on Wednesday, but Ashland trails fourth-place Nova Southeastern (317) by seven shots going into Day 2 on Thursday (May 14).

Junior Ali Green and senior Madison Musick each fired first-round five-over-par 77s, ending Day 1 in a tie for 15th individually. Sophomore Kaitlin Neumann and senior Abby Tepe each fired 13-over 85s, while sophomore Emily Jereb finished with a 15-over round of 87.

The 72-round national tournament will conclude on Saturday (May 16).
