AU Women Three Strokes Back, In Hunt At Beall Classic

After the first of two rounds of the Findlay-Beall Fall Classic, Ashland University's women's golf team is in the hunt.

On Sunday (Oct. 11), the Eagles finished with a first-round total of 313, just three shots behind co-leaders Grand Valley State and Northwood at 310.

Junior Emily Jereb led the AU effort in Round 1, firing a three-over-par 75 and landing in a tie for fourth place individually. That round was Jereb's lowest in four tournaments in the young 2015-16 season.

Senior Ali Green shot a 76 to be in a tie for sixth place, while junior Kaitlin Neumann carded a 79 to head into Day 2 in a tie for 15th. Freshmen Kayleigh McHugh (83, tied for 26th) and Monica Torda (89, tied for 64th) rounded out the AU effort.

The Eagles will return to Findlay Country Club for Day 2 of play on Monday (Oct. 12).
