Eagle Women Sit Fourth At GLIACs After Day 1

Through the first 18 of 54 holes at the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Ashland University's women's golf team sits in fourth place in the 12-team field.

On Friday (April 21) at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, the Eagle women ended with a team score of 325. Findlay leads the field at 308, followed by Northern Michigan (311) and Grand Valley State (320).

Leading the Ashland charge on Day 1 was senior Kaitlin Neumann, who fired a 78 and is tied for eighth place individually. Included in that total was a birdie on the par-3 hole No. 12.

Sophomore Morgan Eib (79) is tied for 10th and had a birdie on hole No. 10, while freshman Anna Schatschneider (83) is tied for 21st after two birdies on the final six holes.

Sophomores Monica Torda and Kayleigh McHugh each ended with 85s and in a tie for 32nd. They both had a birdie on the day.

On Thursday (April 20), the Eagles stayed at No. 6 in the second set of East Super Regional rankings. Twelve teams from the East will play in the three-day, 54-hole super regional on May 8-10 at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.
