Neumann Takes Third, Eagles Fourth At GLIACs

Finishing the third and final round of the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday (April 23) at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, Ashland University's women's golf team ended in fourth place in the 12-team field.

The Eagles completed play at 325-320-319—964. Findlay won the team title (308-304-312—924), followed by Northern Michigan (311-314-317—942) and Grand Valley State (320-325-316—961).

This is the ninth consecutive season Ashland has finished fourth place or better in the conference.

For the third time in four years, senior Kaitlin Neumann was the Eagles' top golfer at the conference tournament. Neumann finished third individually after firing 78-77-75—230, and had five birdies on the weekend.

Sophomore Morgan Eib tied for 18th individually at 79-87-80—246, while freshman Anna Schatschneider (83-86-79—248) and sophomore Kayleigh McHugh (85-78-85—248) both tied for 23rd.

Sophomore Monica Torda (85-79-86—250) tied for 25th.

Sunday's action ended the regular season for the Eagles. Ashland was sixth in the second set of NCAA Division II East Super Region rankings, as it looks to secure a spot in the 12-team super regional tournament, May 8-10 at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.

UP NEXT: The third and final set of super regional rankings will be released on Thursday (April 27), and the selections for each of the four D-II super regional tournaments will be announced on May 1 via press release on NCAA.com.
