The 2017 NCAA Division II Super Region 1 women's golf tournament will be Monday-Wednesday (May 8-10) at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.

Ashland University, one of the teams very familiar with the tournament this decade, will play in its eighth consecutive NCAA postseason next week.

Ashland, the No. 6 seed, will be joined at the super regional by Indianapolis (No. 1), Findlay (No. 2), Missouri-St. Louis (No. 3), Grand Valley State (No. 4), Northern Michigan (No. 5), Northwood (No. 7), Illinois-Springfield (No. 8), Lewis (No. 9), Southern Indiana (No. 10), Gannon (No. 11) and California, Pa. (No. 12).

"This year is really, really good, tough competition," said Ashland head coach Kory Oslie, "so it's definitely going to take some really great golf to get out. Our conference and our region continues to add depth every single year. It seems the bar continues to rise."

The low three teams and the low three individuals not on those teams from each of the four super regionals will advance to the national championships. The 2017 NCAA Division II National Championships will be May 17-20 at Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

Since 2010, the Eagles have finished ninth (2010), third (2011), fifth (2012), second (2013), sixth (2014), tied for second (2015) and tied for fourth (2016) at the super regional. Ashland is one of only four teams to compete in all eight Super Region 1 tournaments this decade, along with GVSU, Indy and UMSL.

In all six spring 2017 tournaments, the Eagles have placed no worse than fifth in the team standings, and have been in the top three on three occasions.

"The addition of (redshirt freshman) Krystal (Hu) has helped tremendously, but overall, I think everybody's kind of elevated their game," Oslie said. "We're playing much better as a team this spring. I would attribute it to the hard work they put in during the offseason.

"We're not there yet, but we've shown huge improvement from fall to spring."

Ashland's two pacesetters during the spring portion of 2016-17 have been senior Kaitlin Neumann, who won the SVSU Spring Invitational and has an average score of 76.3, and Hu, who was medalist at the Perry Park Spring Fling and sports an average of 76.82.

"It's not going to come down to just two players," Oslie said. "It's going to have to come down to four really, really good scores every single day. It's going to require a team effort to get out."

To that end, the Eagles will look to two out of a group of sophomores Morgan Eib (82.2), Monica Torda (82.7) and Kayleigh McHugh (85.4), and freshman Anna Schatschneider (85.2), to shoot below their spring averages throughout the week.

Ashland qualified as a team for the D-II national tournament in 2011, 2013 and 2015, with its best finish being ninth in both 2011 and 2015.
