Lemons, Hu Lift Eagles To Third Place After 18 At GVSU

Youth continues to be served for Ashland University's women's golf team.

On Saturday (Sept. 30) on Day 1 of Grand Valley State's Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invitational, freshman Hannah Lemons and sophomore Krystal Hu led the Eagle women to a third-place showing in the nine-team event. Ashland posted a team score of 311, trailing only the host Lakers (299) and Northern Michigan (306).

Lemons is in fourth place individually after firing an even-par 72, her lowest score in seven rounds as an Eagle. Hu followed with a 2-over round of 74, and is in sixth place individually.

Freshman Sophie Hemleben is tied for 15th following a 78, and the Ashland day was rounded out by junior Monica Torda (tied for 40th, 87) and sophomore Logan Pottorf (52nd, 91).

Lemons (76.8), Hu (75.0) and Hemleben (80.5) all shot rounds below their 2017 averages coming into the day.
