AU Women Start Spring Sixth At Seminole State

The Ashland University women's golf team opened its spring campaign with a sixth-place finish at the nine-team Seminole State Spring Break tournament, Tuesday (March 6) and Wednesday (March 7) in Lake Mary, Fla.

With a two-day score of 335-338—673, the Eagles finished 69 shots behind champion and host Seminole State (298-306—604). Florida Atlantic was second at 302-308—610, while Youngstown State took third at 326-313—639.

Sophomore Krystal Hu picked up where she left off in the fall, finishing in a tie for seventh individually at 79-77—156. Junior Monica Torda was next for Ashland, placing in a tie for 29th at 83-85—168.

Rounding out the Eagle contingent were freshmen Sophie Hemleben (tied for 32nd, 84-89—173) and Hannah Lemons (tied for 36th, 89-87—176), and sophomores Logan Pottorf (45th, 96-94—190) and Claire Coughenour (48th, 106-107—213).

UP NEXT: March 17-18 at the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Ky.
