Ashland Women Fifth After Day 1 At SVSU Invite

On the first day of the two-day Saginaw Valley State University Spring Invitational on Saturday (March 17) at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky., Ashland University's women's golf team finished in fifth place amongst the 17-team field.

The Eagles' team score after 18 holes was 318, trailing leader Grand Valley State (290), Tiffin (313), Northwood (314) and Walsh (315).

Ashland has two golfers in the top 12 individually following the first day of action. Redshirt sophomore Krystal Hu paced the Eagles with a 5-over round of 77, and is tied for ninth place, while freshman Hannah Lemons is right behind at 78 and in a tie for 12th.

Freshman Sophie Hemleben is tied for 19th after a first-round 80, junior Monica Torda is tied for 42nd  with an 83, and sophomore Logan Pottorf is tied for 76th with an 89.

UP NEXT: The second and final day of the SVSU Spring Invitational on Sunday (March 18), starting at 10 a.m.
