Hu Tied For Fifth, Eagles Sixth After GLIACs Day 1

Sophomore Krystal Hu is tied for fifth individually, and Ashland University's women's golf team is sixth, after the first 18 holes at the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday (April 20) at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

Hu finished Friday's round with a 6-over-par 78, four shots behind the first-round leader, Haley Hewer of Northern Michigan. Hu's round included birdies on holes No. 4, 9 and 13.

The team leaderboard shows the Eagles with a score of 331. Northern Michigan is atop the standings after Day 1 at 309, followed by Grand Valley State (313) and Tiffin (319).

Freshman Hannah Lemons and junior Monica Torda are tied for 23rd place individually with rounds of 83. Torda earned birdies on holes No. 7 and 9.

Another rookie, Sophie Hemleben, finished with an 87, including a birdie on hole No. 9, while sophomore Logan Pottorf, ended at 101.

UP NEXT: Day 2 of the 2018 GLIAC Championships on Saturday (April 21).
