Ashland University sophomore Krystal Hu turned a red-hot start on the second day of the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships into one of the best all-time rounds for an Eagle women's golfer at nationals.

On Day 2 of the Championships, Thursday (May 17) at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas, Hu shot a 1-over-par 73 to move into a tie for 34th place (79-73—152) through 36 holes. That 73 ties Hu with Erin Misheff (fourth round, 2011) and Ali Green (third round, 2016) for the best nationals score in program history.

Hu began her Thursday on the back nine, firing five birdies (on holes No. 10, 13-15 and 17) and carding a 33 before heading to the front nine. Included in that back nine total were four birdies on the first six holes.

On the front nine, however, Hu had no birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey for a 40. On Thursday, Hu was even on par-3s and par-4s, and 1-over on par-5s.

Through two days of the tournament, Hu has the third-most birdies (eight) in the field.

UP NEXT: Day 3 of the Championships on Friday (May 18).
