On Saturday (April 13) at the Walsh Cav Classic in Canton, Ohio, Ashland University's women's golf team placed 13th in the 15-team field, ending the one-day, 36-hole event at 343-346—689.
Pacing the Eagles on Saturday was sophomore Sophie Hemleben, who tied for 14th place individually at 77-80—157. Senior Monica Torda finished 51st (89-85—174), while freshman Sophie Lowe was tied for 54th (87-91—178).
Junior Logan Pottorf (68th, 100-90—190) and freshman Cece Dillon (72nd, 90-107—197) rounded out Ashland's Saturday showing.
Findlay (302-303—605) took the team title over Grand Valley State (303-306—609), while Northern Michigan (311-315—626) took third place. The individual medalist was the Oilers' Makenzie Torres, who carded 71-77—148.
Ashland will play in the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday-Sunday (April 19-21) at Gull Lake View Resort in Augusta, Mich.
