On a yo-yo-type day during the second and final round of Gannon's Michael Corbett Fall Classic on Monday (Sept. 9), Ashland University's women's golf team rallied for a one-stroke win over both the host Golden Knights and Ohio Dominican.

Despite trailing for most of Monday's action, the Eagles ended the 36-hole event at 316-335—651, one shot better than Gannon (321-331—652) and two strokes ahead of the Panthers (320-333—653).

Leading the way for Ashland was junior Sophie Hemleben, who turned in a career-best second-place finish individually. Hemleben fired a two-day total of 77-76—153, which included a 1-under-par showing on the back nine.

Senior Megan Pollock took sixth place thanks to a 75-83—158 finish, while another senior, Logan Pottorf, ended in a career-best tie for 16th (78-88—166).

Sophomore Sophia Lowe tied for 42nd (86-88—174), and senior Claire Coughenour tied for 68th (93-92—185).

Ashland's team win comes almost two years to the day since its last victory – Sept. 11, 2017 at the same Michael Corbett Fall Classic.

The second tournament of the 2019-20 season for Ashland's women will be Sept. 21-22 at Ohio Dominican's Cumberland Trail Classic.
