Ashland Women Start Play At ODU’s Classic

Ashland University's women's golf team competed in the first round of Ohio Dominican's Cumberland Trail Classic on Saturday (Sept. 21), ending the first 18 holes in 12th place in the 16-team field.

The Eagles' top showing on Saturday was turned in by senior Megan Pollock, who carded a 7-over-par 79 to be in a tie for 26th place individually. Pollock's day included birdies on holes No. 4 and 8.

Junior Sophie Hemleben ended the day with a round of 82 and in a tie for 48th place. Ashland's day was rounded out by sophomore Sophia Lowe (tied for 60th, 84), senior Logan Pottorf (tied for 71st, 87) and senior Claire Coughenour (tied for 88th, 97).

As a team, Ashland had a score of 332. Tiffin leads the field at 292, followed by Ferris State (296) and Gannon (302).

The second and final day of the Cumberland Trail Classic will be Sunday (Sept. 22), starting at 9 a.m.
