Eagles Lose At Home To No. 11 UIndy

Ashland University's lacrosse team lost at home on Friday (April 26) to No. 11-ranked University of Indianapolis.

The Eagles (4-11 overall, 3-8 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) were down 18-1 at the half, and were not able to mount a comeback in final 30 minutes, losing 26-2.

Scoring for Ashland was junior Sofia Michael, who scored the first goal for the Eagles with 20:31 to go in the first half. She was on the receiving end of a pass to the front of the net from junior Renee Ruppert.

AU's second goal came in the second half with 23:16 to play. Freshman Cora Wilson scored on a free-position shot.

Destinie Katz led a balanced attack for the Greyhounds, scoring five goals and tallying eight assists. Three other scorers netted three or more goals – Abby Wolmont, Grace Gunneson and Peyton Romig.

The Eagles started freshman Nadine Elbarrad in net. She made three saves in the first half. In the second half, freshman Corynn Schneider got the nod, making five saves in the period.

UIndy was dominant on draw controls, wining 25-of-29 in the game. They also had 37 shots to Ashland's six.

The Eagles' final game of the season will be at home at Ferguson Field on Sunday (April 28) against Lewis at 1 p.m.
