Gordon Attends NWCA Leadership Academy

Ashland University assistant wrestling coach Marcus Gordon recently attended the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Leadership Academy. The program included 25 college coaches from around the country.

The Leadership Academy was a two-day workshop that was held in St. Louis.  This year's Leadership Academy was hosted by FCA board member Mark Mestemacher and the staff at the Jon Davis Wrestling Center in Edwardsville, Ill.

The NWCA awarded Gordon with a full scholarship for the program. That scholarship covered transportation, meals, lodging and tuition.

The list of mentors for this year's Academy included Jesse Castro, head coach of Liberty University, Carl Perry, FCA Wrestling National Director and David Ray, the head coach at SIU-Edwardsville.

Guest speakers at the event included former speaker of the house Dennis Hastert, who wrestled at Wheaton College, Dale Neuburger, special consultant to the USOC and 22 governing bodies and Tom Jarman, former head coach and athletic director at Manchester College.
