The Ashland University wrestling team opened the 2012 season last Saturday (Nov. 3) at the Eastern Michigan Open. Six Ashland wrestlers placed in the freshman-sophomore division.
Sophomore Bryson Hall (Doylestown, Ohio/Chippewa) finished first at 184 pounds and freshman Michael Labry (Twinsburg, Ohio) was first at 133 pounds. Sophomore Kyle Burns (Milan, Ohio/Edison) was second at 157 pounds.
Freshman Zeb Beam (Holmesville, Ohio/Waynedale) was fourth at 157 pounds, sophomore Joe Brandt (Versailles, Ohio) was fifth at 197 pounds and sophomore Max Byrd (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) was sixth at 125 pounds.
Up next for the Eagles is the Purple and Gold scrimmage on Thursday (Nov. 8, 7 p.m.).
