The AU wrestling team lost at Campbellsville on Wednesday (Dec. 18), 22-19. This was the final match before the semester break. The Eagles are 3-2.
AU head coach Josh Hutchens did some mixing and matching with his lineup. The Eagles were coming off a full weekend at the Midwest Classic and several regulars didn't make the trip to Kentucky.
Last year's All-Americans, Joe Brandt and Michael Labry, were on the trip and both were victorious. Labry won by forfeit and Brandt stopped Nate Knauf, 8-3. The Eagles also got wins from Johnny Maurice at 125 pounds, Brenden Stanley at 165 pounds and Brandon O'Neil at 184. Maurice and O'Neil earned some extra points. Maurice won via a pin and O'Neil by major decision.
The Eagles return to the mat on Sunday, Jan. 5, when they host the Wendy's Mid-Atlantic Duals.
