Labry Wins Title At 133 At Eastern Michigan Open

Ashland University junior Michael Labry took the title Saturday (Nov. 15) in the 133-pound weight class at the Eastern Michigan Open.

Labry went 5-0 on Saturday, recording a major decision along the way. He defeated Central Michigan's Carter Ballinger, 11-6, in the championship match.

Sophomore Brandon O'Neill earned a fifth-place finish at 197 pounds. He won the fifth-place match in a 9-8 decision over Edinboro's Jake Hart. O'Neill was 4-1 with a major decision.

Junior Kurt Schaefer was Ashland's third placer at EMU, finishing in eighth place at 184 pounds. Schaefer went 3-2, and a major decision was included on his ledger.

Ashland's next two competitions will be at home – Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. in the Simonson Open, and Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m., in a dual against Mercyhurst.
