Ashland University junior Kurt Schaefer is this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week.
Schaefer was 4-0 on Saturday (Nov. 22) in the Eagles' first home action of the season, the Simonson Open. He won the title at 184 pounds, finishing off the championship with a 4-1 win over Gabriel Dzuro of Ohio University.
Schaefer is the second consecutive Eagle to earn GLIAC Wrestler of the Week honors. Fellow junior Michael Labry earned the honor last week for his first-place finish on Nov. 15 at the Eastern Michigan Open.
Ashland's next action will be a home dual against Mercyhurst on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.
