A pair of Ashland University wrestlers – junior Michael Labry and sophomore Brent Fickel – are among the nationally-ranked wrestlers listed in the latest NCAA Division II wrestling rankings, released this week.
Labry is the second-ranked wrestler in Division II at 133 pounds. He is 15-1 so far this season with two pins and a team-high 60 takedowns.
Fickel is the seventh-ranked wrestler in the country at 149 pounds. He is 9-3 on the young campaign with a pair of pins and 21 takedowns, good for fourth on the team.
As a team, Ashland is among those teams receiving votes. The Eagles were 17th in the country in the preseason rankings.
The Eagles will finish the pre-Christmas part of their 2014-15 schedule by competing in the Midwest Classic, Dec. 13-14 in Indianapolis, Ind.
