Eagles Ranked 13th Nationally, Fourth Regionally To Start 2017

The Ashland University wrestling team dropped two spots to No. 13 in the country and stayed put at No. 4 regionally in the second set of regular-season Division II Wrestling Coaches Association polls.

The Eagles now have three nationally-ranked wrestlers. Senior Michael Labry is No. 1 at 133 pounds, senior Brent Fickel is No. 8 at 149 and junior Luke Cramer is No. 9 at 197.

There are eight regionally-ranked Ashland wrestlers. Sophomore Sebastian Vidika is No. 4 at 125, Labry is No. 1, sophomore Chandler Minnard in No. 5 at 141, Fickel is No. 3, junior J.J. Diven is No. 7 at 157, junior Jordan Murphy is No. 8 at 184, Cramer is No. 3 and sophomore Deaken McCoy is No. 3 at 285.

UP NEXT: In their first home competition of the 2016-17 season, the Eagles will face No. 2 Notre Dame College in a dual on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. at Kates Gymnasium. The Falcons have eight nationally-ranked wrestlers.
