In its last dual of the 2016-17 campaign on Wednesday (Feb. 8) night, the No. 9-ranked Ashland University wrestling team lost to No. 11 Tiffin, 22-20, on the road.
The Eagles earned five victories in the eight individual matches, outscoring the Dragons, 20-8, in such efforts. However, Ashland took losses via forfeit in the 149- and 285-pound classes, surrendering 12 points to the Dragons.
AU's 125-pound redshirt sophomore Sebastian Vidika led off the night winning by technical fall (16-0). His achievement was followed by Ashland's No. 1-ranked 133-pound redshirt senior Michael Labry's victory by fall in 6:30.
Winning matches for the Eagles by decision were 165-pound redshirt freshman Bret Romanzak (3-2), No. 10-ranked 184-pound redshirt junior Jordan Murphy (7-1) and No. 11-ranked 197-pound redshirt junior Luke Cramer (1-0).
UP NEXT: Ashland awaits next week's NCAA Super Region II rankings to get a better idea of how they'll stack up in this year's regional tournament brackets. Regionals will be on Feb. 24-25 in Indianapolis, Ind.
