Price, Cramer, Romanzak Win At Ohio Intercollegiate Open

There were 10 weight brackets and 16 teams at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday (Nov. 12).

Ashland University sophomores Christian Price and Bret Romanzak as well as senior Luke Cramer, were responsible for winning three of those brackets.

Romanzak won all five of his 165-pound matches. He pinned his first opponent, beat another by technical fall and three by decision. Price went 4-0 at 174 pounds, winning three of his matches by technical fall and one by decision.

Cramer, at 197 pounds, also went 4-0. He beat opponents by fall, decision, technical fall and medical forfeit.

Last year, Price and Cramer earned second in their brackets at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open, and Romanzak took fifth.

The other eight Eagles who placed on Sunday did not place at the meet in 2016.

Among them were sophomore Garrett Hall and junior Deaken McCoy with second-place finishes at 157 pounds and 285 pounds for AU, respectively.

Also placing for the Eagles were junior Sebastian Vidika (fifth, 125 pounds), sophomore Jerry Fenner III (eighth, 133), freshman Carson Speelman (fourth, 141), redshirt freshman Dustin Marteney (fifth, 149), freshman Sid Ohl (fifth, 157) and freshman Chance Esmont (seventh, 165).

Next up for Ashland is the Findlay Open in Findlay, Ohio, on Saturday (Nov. 18), beginning at 9 a.m.
