Fourth-Ranked Eagles Have Nine-Dual Win Streak Snapped

No. 4-ranked Ashland University wrestling lost, 23-18, at No. 18 Findlay on Wednesday (Feb. 7) night.

The Eagles (12-5) won nine straight duals prior to loss. Their last defeat was on Jan. 14 at No. 2 Notre Dame College.

AU senior Luke Cramer (17-1, No. 1 at 197 pounds) took his first loss of the season. He was up 2-1 in the third period before suffering a takedown that caused him to lose 3-2 to Roughneck senior Armani Robinson.

Redshirt junior Sebastian Vidika (16-11, 125) and redshirt sophomore Christian Price (22-8, No. 11 at 175) were responsible for Ashland's only wins that didn't come via forfeit.

Vidika, fourth in the nation in technical falls, beat Findlay freshman Zachary Collins, 9-4. This is the first time in his last six matches that Vidika allowed a point. He won his previous five matches by a combined score of 72-0.

Price, second on Ashland in wins, beat No. 12 UF sophomore Nick Vandermeer, 7-2.

The Eagles are done with duals this season, but will travel to Cleveland for the John Carroll Open on Sunday (Feb. 11) for their last regular-season competition of 2017-18.
