Minnard, Romanzak, Weirich, Eagles Ranked Nationally

Three Ashland University wrestlers - redshirt juniors Chandler Minnard and Bret Romanzak, and redshirt sophomore Tristen Weirich, have earned their way into the latest NCAA Division II wrestling rankings.

Following his championship victory and five wins at the Midwest Classic, Minnard (9-4) was ranked No. 5 at 141 pounds. Romanzak (20-4) also was slotted No. 5 in the NCAA's most recent rankings at 165 pounds. He most recently placed fifth at the Midwest Classic.

Weirich (16-6) climbed into the top 10 at 285 pounds, as he is ranked No. 10. He did so following a strong showing at the Classic, finishing fourth.

Ashland University's wrestling team was slotted in a tie for No. 18 in the most recent national rankings. The Eagles are 6-1 in duals this season and most recently had a solid eighth-place finish at the Midwest Classic before heading into break.

Ashland will compete next coming out the winter break on Tuesday (Jan. 8) at Mount Union at 7 p.m.
